1. Sustainability Gains Even More Prominence
It’s no surprise that sustainability remains a big trend for 2025, and it's evident why. Experts expect 2025 to be a big year for climate and the environment, and extreme weather across the world will persist. Everyone—businesses and individuals alike—has a role to play in reducing environmental impact. The textiles and fabrics industry is of course, no exception, and the demand for more sustainable options will continue to grow.
This year, expect to see more:
Eco-Friendly Textiles - Think materials like recycled polyester, organic cotton, and bamboo: they're gaining popularity for not just their reduced environmental impact, but also for their durability and sense of style. Biodegradable materials are expected to see an increase in demand, too.

2. Earthy Colors & Quiet Luxury
In case you missed it, Pantone's Colour of the Year is Mocha Mousse - a mellow brown hue that's both rich and warm. It's chosen for the year as its “inherent richness and sensorial and comforting warmth extends further into our desire for comfort, and the indulgence of simple pleasures that we can gift and share with others.” The hue is also an earthy tone, reminiscent of the sustainability trend we just shared above. We expect the year will look towards colours heavily inspired by nature, with an emphasis on earthy, warm tones and calming hues.
Other trends that are along these broader themes, like Japandi and Wabi Sabi, seem to be getting popular in 2025 too. Japandi is a minimalist interior design, combining Japanese and Scandinavian design elements; Wabi Sabi is a Japanese aesthetic that asks for a focus on imperfections and natural materials. They both evoke a sense of quiet luxury and timelessness.
How do you achieve it in your own home?
Nature-Inspired Colors - When you're in nature, what colours do you see? Now, translate that into your living room, bedroom or any space in your house. This year for European fabrics, expect a surge in warm terracottas, soft sages, muted blues, and leafy greens that evoke tranquility and connection to the outdoors. We expect that the trending patterns will be along the same lines of nature-inspired patterns, like leaf prints, abstract landscapes or artsy floral designs.
New Neutrals - If you search for ‘Interior Design Trends’ on TikTok, you'll see a resurgence of neutrals like taupe, cream or beige. The best thing here is neutral colours are timeless, and they won't go out of style. If this trend feels too bland for your maximalist taste, consider adding textures to the room, like a velvet neutral-coloured curtain or curtaitns with fringes.
Simple Furniture - Unlike maximalist trends where the bigger and louder, the better, quiet luxury is the opposite. It's meant to not draw any attention. Each piece of item in the room is unfussy and simple, and they're often designed to be as clean as possible. Opt for furniture with curved edges, simple design and mono colours.
When in doubt, opt for a luxury so quiet, people will listen.

3. Textured Layering
Curtains play a huge role in elevating any room - when you choose the right style, texture and colour, curtains can make a small room big, a short room tall, and a narrow room wide. One of the ways to achieve this wondrous illusion is by applying textured layering. Instead of using the same fabric for all your curtains, you can use different textures, colours and patterns to create the look you desire.
Here are some ways to do textured layering:
Textured Fabrics: European fabrics come in many textures - velvet, linen, silk, and many more. When you layer different materials together, it adds depth and draws your eye to the space.
Mix and Match Materials: Another way to do textured layering is by weight. Lightweight fabrics would be materials that are soft and light as a feather, like silk and sheer chiffon. On the other hand, heavier fabrics like damask or chenille have a heavier feel to them. When you combine them both, it can add a new depth to the room.
Play with Colours: For the bold, you can also experiment with different colours as a way of adding more texture to the room. If you're unsure which colour works best with one another, use the colour wheel as a guideline. Depending on your design preference, you can go with complementary colours for a more pleasing tone, or contrasting colours if you prefer to have a more colourful and vibrant home (read trend #5 for more inspiration!).

4. Functional Designs
We've said it above - trends in interior designs are not fads, just design inspiration to help you decide what is best for your home. Trends can be functional, and functional design in curtains is expected to gain prominence in 2025. Instead of curtains that just serve a certain aesthetic, we think curtains will increasingly be designed to serve multiple purposes.
For example:
Room Dividers: Instead of installing room separators, curtains will likely replace traditional room separators. Furthermore, fabric technology has come a long way, and there are now curtains that can block out light and sound, which makes it an ideal option as a room divider.
Smart Curtains: As our technology becomes smarter, so will our homes. Some luxury hotels have it, where the curtains have been integrated into an automation system for enhanced convenience, and can move at the click of a button. We think smart curtains will soon become common for homeowners, and it's a way of future proofing your home.
Temperature Regulation: Thicker curtains have the ability to reduce heat loss through windows, and keeps the room toasty and warm. Of course, this is more appropriate for homes in colder countries, but it can be helpful for those who prefer keeping their homes warmer to keep the cold away.
Technology will improve not in a matter of years, but in months and sometimes even days. It's only fitting that our homes will follow suit soon.
5. Colour or Double Drenching
Somewhere between 2023 and 2024, colour drenching took the interior world by storm. You've seen in on Instagram and Pinterest - the trend is where you only use one colour throughout the room. That means everything, from the walls to the curtains to the furniture upholstery, is painted or sewn in the same colour.
While in theory it seems bland or excessive, colour drenching works particularly well because of its simplicity. You only need one colour to make it work, and not deviate away from it.
In 2025, we see an evolved trend emerging as reported by AD Middle East - Double Drenching. Writer Kieron Marchese explains it perfectly in the article: “Instead of going with one dominant colour, this trend mixes up tonal variations from the same palette, taking colour drenching up a notch and the effect is wonderfully enveloping, wrapping the whole room in a cosy, stylish embrace.”
We think both trends - the original and the elevated version - will grow strong in 2025 because it works across a wide range of tastes. If you're a maximalist and love fun patterns, bold colours and fun designs, double drenching is your best bet. If you're a minimalist who wants to explore beyond the Japandi or Wabi Sabi trends, using colour drenching is a good option as you're sticking to just one tone throughout the room.
