7. Curtain Walls 
   
   Using the same idea of the colour drenching, curtain walls are a unique decor trend that uses fabrics to cover the walls throughout the room. As explained by Andrea Benedettini, ‘a curtain wall adds an extra layer of texture to a room, instantly making the space feel warm and inviting.’ It is more often utilised as an accent wall, like how curtains can be used to be hung behind the bed or in smaller rooms like a library or walk-in closet. 
   
   ‘Curtain walls work particularly well in spaces designed for comfort, such as bedrooms, snugs, and libraries, as they create a cocoon-like effect that forms an enveloping, cosy atmosphere. Additionally, fabric has acoustic properties, further enhancing the sense of comfort and tranquillity in the space,’ Benedettini continues. 
   
   But simply hanging any fabric on the wall will not cut it. When applying this technique to your decor, it is important to consider the weight, thickness and texture of the fabric as this will add to the cosy and intimate vibe of the room. 
   
   There are also many functional perks to curtain walls, using floor-to-ceiling fabric can create the illusion of height in lengthening the room. Certain fabrics can also reflect and absorb light differently, which can further impact the atmosphere of the room.
   
   If you are looking to make the brighter, opt for materials with a sheen like satin, taffeta and chiffon. For a more cosy and warm setting, blackout curtains like wool and lined cotton are more suitable.
